On this day, 12 June 1963, Medgar Wiley Evers, a Black civil rights activist from Mississippi involved in efforts to overturn segregation at the University of Mississippi, was shot in the back and killed by Byron De La Beckwith as he pulled into his driveway after returning from a meeting in the early morning.
Beckwith, a white supremacist and member of the white supremacist Citizens’ Council, was arrested, but when he was put on trial – twice – by all-white juries, they were all illegally screened and investigated by the state beforehand. The former governor of the state interrupted the second trial to shake his hand while Evers’ widow, Myrlie, was testifying. So Beckwith walked free, and for years boasted about the murder at KKK rallies. He also unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination as a gubernatorial candidate.
However, after years of campaigning by Myrlie, she succeeded in getting the case reopened, and in 1994 Beckwith was eventually convicted and put in prison where he died a few years later.

I made a little clothing guide for some Dragon Age regions
Some may not be exactly the same as the references that appear in the game or in the concepts, but I wanted to give a little of my vision to the guide.
Ferelden
Ferelden is close to the Frostback Mountains and Orlais and as Leliana and Zevran once said, Ferelden is cold, so I thought it would be a cool idea to put on thick clothes with a lot of fur so the Fereldans can protect themselves from the cold.
Tevinter
Dragon Age 4 is approaching and it’s already evident that we’re going to be in the Tevinter Imperium, so I thought I’d give a “redesign” to the look we already know, I know that some like what we see in the game, I like it too, but like I said at the beginning “I want to give my vision”
Yes, I know, almost everything Game of Thrones, but in my defense I must say that Game of Thrones fashion is incredibly Tevinter vibes
Orlais
We’ve already seen in the game and in the concept art that Orlais is all about being flamboyant and flashy and what’s more flamboyant and flashy than mid-1500s fashion?
Antiva
Home to the two loves of my life, Zevran and Josephine, Antiva fashion is something I really love… The puffy arms, the breast-enhancing corsets, the leather vests, idk, I just like Antiva
Nevarra
I don’t exactly have much to say about nevarra, but I did some research and found some concepts that I thought were interesting so I chose some clothes that I think would go well with the region
Frostback Basin
In Inquisition we can see that the clothes they wear are quite furry and well protected from the cold, so I think it would be a good idea to inspire some of their clothing in Inuit clothing
For now these are just a few ideas I have about the clothing regions, but maybe I’ll come back with more soon? Who knows? But I hope this helps someone who wants to make some fanart about the regions I mentioned
GRRM sometimes throws in these nuggets that highlights the unfairness and irony embedded in the world of ASoIaF with characters like Jon Snow and Joffrey Baratheon.
Jon Snow and Arya Stark, separately as characters and their relationship are, for example, clearly written as
foils to Joffrey and Sansa as characters and their relationship with each other. One relationship is deep and unconditional, the
other is shallow and superficial.
In Arya I, AGoT, Arya disparages Joffrey and defends Jon while Sansa defends Joffrey by disparaging Jon Snow.
She looked at Arya. “What did you think of Prince Joff, sister? He’s very gallant, don’t you think?”
“Jon says he looks like a girl,” Arya said. Sansa sighed as she stitched. “Poor Jon,” she said. “He gets jealous because he’s a bastard.”
“He’s our brother,” Arya said, much too loudly. Her voice cut through the afternoon quiet of the tower room.
In
the same chapter, GRRM then drives this point further in for readers with prince
Joffrey in the practice yard being ‘truly a little shit’ while the bastard Jon and
Arya watch and discuss the unfairness of classism and sexism.
(don’t know what I’m doing with this, more jealous Sebastian , trigger warning for ableist insult)
Sebastian was currently sorting through his notes to prepare for the group study session with Y/N and the friends she had made in the few weeks since attending Hogwarts. After groveling long enough that he was likened to a house elf by a passing third year , Samantha Dale saw fit to allow him to finally offer his apologies to Amit. Amit was far more gracious and immediately forgave Sebastian and invited him and Ominis to the next study session.
Sebastian had spent the better part of the day rewriting his notes with Ominis’s dictation quill considering his own penmanship was too atrocious to contribute anything to the study group. It was clear that he was supposed to bring his DADA and Magical Theory notes. While Ominis brought his History of Magic and Ancient magic notes. Ominis was already tapping his toe, to rush him along.
“Honestly, you’ll be late to your own funeral.” Ominis scolded
“I’m sure you’ll be there to rush me.”
Ominis scoffed in response and started to leave while Sebastian scrambled to get his things.
Bruce being so done with life because none of his kids treat their medical files on the batcomputer with the importance it deserves. And the worst part is, he can’t tell if it’s on purpose or if they’re all Just Like That.
Dick:
He loves his eldest son but for some reason, he refuses to do anything but put down estimated recovery times in his injuries folder. It’s usually in the range of “2 weeks” to “48 hours” but that just leaves Bruce worrying about what happened.
One time, he put down 3 months and he nearly had a heart attack till his son called and told him Kor'i had dumped him and that this was how long he was going to be wallowing.
Jason:
Is nice enough to tell him what happened but doesn’t add the degree of injury.
So he’ll put down “stabbed” but won’t elaborate on whether it was a flesh wound or worse. Bruce goes grey very, very early after Jason is on the field.
Tim:
Gives him just the location of the injury and leaves him to guess what happened.
Could say “arm” or “back of the head” or, on one memorable occasion, “spleen”, but won’t say what the heck happened to any of those parts.
Was he stabbed?? Shot at?? Who knows. Certainly not Bruce.
Damian:
Only mentions the retribution he got for any injuries he received.
“It’s been handled”, “he’ll never be able to get the drop on me again” and more often than not, just the word “avenged”.
Bruce is surprised he has any of his original hair colour left at all.
Duke:
By far the worst one. He writes down injuries in terms of his own pain scale.
Could write “OW!” or “Not Gucci” or “Better than that time Jason hit me in the face with a TV remote”.
Once wrote “Non-fatal” which sent Bruce into a spiral because “holy shit Duke?? What do you mean non-fatal?? Yeah I sure hope your injuries weren’t lethal?!”
Cass:
Has never been injured on patrol. Often leaves him question marks in her file which…yeah, fair enough.
